Stories Are Carved in Stone and Sky

Rising above the Battambang countryside, Phnom Sampov is not just a hill — it's a sacred landmark where spiritual beauty, history, and nature meet. With its massive reclining Buddha, intricate carvings, and panoramic views, the site invites reflection, awe, and a quiet sense of reverence.

Whether you’re hiking to the top or arriving after watching the bats swirl at sunset, Phnom Sampov feels like a place where time slows down.

🪷 A Pagoda Above the Plains

At the summit, the golden pagoda glows against the sky. Built with classic Khmer architecture, it features multi-tiered roofs, detailed serpent (naga) balustrades, and vivid murals depicting the life of the Buddha.

Don’t miss the giant reclining Buddha, nestled behind the pagoda and surrounded by rock carvings and forest. The calm expression on its face feels like a silent message: you’ve made it to the top — now breathe.

🎨 Sculpted Scenes & Sacred Views

As you explore, you'll find carved rock panels that illustrate Buddhist teachings — powerful reminders of both faith and folklore. The site also holds deep historical memory from the Khmer Rouge era, with small caves and memorials tucked into the cliffs.

From every corner, you’ll glimpse the vast plains of Battambang below — rice paddies glowing in the light, distant mountains rising in haze.

It’s a view that stays with you long after you leave.
