Description
Battambang’s Bumpy Ride to Joy
Welcome to one of Cambodia’s quirkiest experiences — the Bamboo Train, or Norry, a one-of-a-kind ride where you sit on a bamboo platform, powered by a small engine, zipping through the countryside on old rails. There are no walls, no seatbelts — just wind, tracks, and smiles.
It’s not just a ride — it’s a feeling: freedom, simplicity, and full-on fun.
🛤️ A Ride Like No Other
Originally built to transport goods and villagers after the fall of the Khmer Rouge, the Bamboo Train became a DIY railway legend. Locals would dismantle it in seconds to let another pass in the opposite direction — and then rebuild just as fast. Efficiency, Cambodian-style.
Now reimagined for travelers, the new Bamboo Train offers a smooth (but still thrilling!) 20-minute ride, cruising through fields, palm trees, and small villages. Kids wave, dogs chase the noise, and your hair gets a workout.
🎒 Laughs, Wind, and Wide-Eyed Wonder
You’ll sit on a bamboo platform with cushions, feeling every click and bounce. With no rails on the side, it’s just you and the landscape flying by.
It’s part theme park, part nostalgia, and part "what am I doing?" — and that's exactly the point. You’ll laugh, you’ll scream a little, and you’ll take a hundred photos. The return journey is just as fun, especially when two trains meet and one has to get disassembled!
